Rare Gold ring recovered by detectorist

Metal detector user recalled the moment he saw the gold band glistening in the in mud.

“I put a spade in the ground and there it was in the side of the hole still shining. I knew right away what it was”

Research done by the finder has suggested that it may have belonged to King James IV or his wife Margaret Tudor, who was grandmother to Mary Queen of Scots.
